Mystical, magical full moon time! It’s rumored to be a green full moon, first time in a hundreds of years! However, I woke up to a golden full moon out my bedroom window. This is a powerful energy supporting us to let go of old ideas, desires, and/or behaviors that are not working anymore. Anything is possible!
During this intense transition period, I am seeing a lot of people suffering going through difficulty with sickness or tragedy. It is important to remember that sometimes it gets worse before it gets better. Like the saying goes, it’s always darkest before the dawn. Transformation is happening even if it doesn’t look like it.
Recently, I got sick with a bad cough and cold. Sickness always humbles me, I feel more compassion for my patients and gratitude for my health. It also makes me look inside at the deeper issues. I realized I am releasing deep-seated grief that got stuck in my lungs. Coughing it out is good, not fun though.
In Chinese Medicine, the old, stuck energies, which create pent-up emotions, pain, or lack of vitality, have to released before the new, vibrant energies can take hold. By going to the root of the matter, not just staying on the surface, the energy flows. This has a deep, subtle, powerful effect on the body, mind and spirit which creates changes that stick.
Acupuncture is very effective in helping us get unstuck. It relaxes the nervous system, easing anxiety, stress, and mental obsessions; which in turn, helps the body let go of pain, tension, and even excessive weight.
The best remedy is Holistic medicine, which includes the mind-body connection. Creating rituals of self-care is empowering and very nurturing with instant results. By consciously checking in with ourselves throughout the day, we make this connection. Breathing in slowly and deeply and noticing the moment helps, so does taking walks in nature and enjoying the beauty around us. Getting out of our heads and into our bodies has a very relaxing effect. These simple acts of loving kindness to ourselves create a peaceful environment around us and will affect others as well.
Enjoy the full moon madness!
